A Glitch in the Matrix
Gratitude is Wine for the Soul - Go on Get Drunk.
I love this Rumi quote.
Have you ever go through a phase where strange kind of unexplainable at the the time things happen?
The type of things that make you think there is either a poltergeist or a glitch in the matrix. The reason I ask is I have currently been going through a string of strangeness.
Let me give you a couple of examples
I left a necklace on my dressing table and as I walked past heard it fall on the floor - have not seen it since.
A few days later an earring totally vanished off the same dressing table.
I live in an all male house and it’s not the kind of thing anyone would borrow and the bedroom is not any kind of heavy traffic thoroughfare. The floor is wooden floor boards and the room is sparsely furnished so bed , dressing table and chair. In the day time it’s pretty easy to see things. The busiest part would be the dressing table which I now wonder if it has some strange vortex like the Bermuda Triangle. Perhaps it is a ghost or mischievous spirit.
However it has not been isolated to the house/room alone. The other night I unlocked my bike after teaching yoga. Got to the gate of the carpark and realized I did not have my keys. Retraced my steps, went back in the daylight and so far nothing. It’s a big set of keys so easy to see.
Totally vanished WTF?
If I think about it too much it does my head in.
Instead I have chosen to reframe it.
Starting with gratitude.
Being grateful is a choice, a prevailing attitude that endures and is relatively immune to the gains and losses that flow in and out of our lives. When disaster strikes, gratitude provides a perspective from which we can view life in its entirety and not be overwhelmed by temporary circumstances.
I am not suggesting that gratitude, comes easily will come easily or naturally in a crisis. It’s easy to feel grateful for the good things. No one “feels” grateful that he or she has lost a job or a home or good health.
Let me share.
Jewellery like clothing for me is a form of self expression alongside this it evokes a precious memory. Being able to wear it can make me boost a mood, give me confidence or make me feel closer to someone. Which is more precious than the jewelery itself.
Keys - well I am glad I have them as I can unlock the car, unlock the house both of which I am so fortunate to have. The car is comfortable and convenient and allows me the freedom to go wherever I want whenever I want. The house is my sanctuary. It is comfortable and filled with light and love. I am always happy to come home.
Gratitude has the power to bring hope.
Which is a uniquely human & certainly helps keep me going, from motivating me to get out of bed in the morning to encouraging me to try new things. The jewelry will show up I am not looking in the right place. The keys are pretty useless to anyone else but me and if they have been found lets hope it’s by a good hearted person who returns them;)
Let me leave you with an expert from an Emily Dickinson poem - Hope is the thing with feathers.
“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all
