Morning Rituals for a Boost of Joy

Did you know the first 20 minutes of your day set the bar for the rest of it?

How do you start yours?

I hear you more of then that not we don't have time to do anything else, minutes count and we don't want to get up early - seems counterintuitive.  

What if I said there a things you can make a part of what you already do which means you don't need to get up early or make time.  

Simple things to start your day off on the right foot and infuse it with a sense of joy and positivity? By making a few simple tweaks to your morning routine, you can set the tone for a more joyful and fulfilling day ahead.

Start with your regular week and not big changes in your day, or schedule.  Pick one and try it for 2/3 weeks.  Before you go to bed refelct on your day and see if it made a difference.  

 

Peace & Intention

When you enjoy your first cup of coffee or tea, use this time to savour the peace and quiet before the hustle and bustle of the day begins, and as you do  simply sit in silence and reflect on the day ahead.

Start with Gratitude

Take a moment each morning to express gratitude for the things in your life that bring you joy. Whether it's your health, your loved ones, or simply the beauty of nature, acknowledging the positive aspects of your life can set a positive tone for the day.

 

Move your Body 

Physical activity has been shown to boost mood and energy levels.  I love to practice yoga or go for a run but one of my most favourite things is to listen to music.   I love picking a song and having a dance, the fun of selecting a song and the boost it brings, you walk into the world with a spring in your step.   Getting your body moving in the morning can help you feel more alert and ready to take on the day.

Find Balance

I don't even think about brushing my teeth in the morning.  It is something which happens on auto pilot.  Balancing, yes literally balancing is a great way to fire up the neurotransmitters and builds strength.  Stand on one leg as your brush your teeth.  One side on one leg, the other side on the other leg.  If you have an electric toothbrush it times it for you.

Up there with tooth brushing is face washing and moisturising.  This routine comes from my yoga & yin yoga training tapping into meridian lines and lymph glands.  Every day can be a spa day :)
